Anniversary of The Battle of Passchendaele

The commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of The Battle of Passchendaele begins on 30th July 2017.  Here at Lady Haig’s Poppy Factory we have commissioned a Passchendaele Commemorative Wreath, designed by our head wreath maker Neil Warrington and he can be seen in the photograph above showing a finished W7 (20″ Diameter) wreath to his work colleagues.  The centre is available in 3 wreath sizes, as a Badged Cross and also as a Badged Humanist Symbol.  These items can be ordered directly from the Factory Sales Team by calling 0131 550 1573/1574 or via our online shop.

Neil’s specially designed commemorative centre includes the line from the poem by Siegfried Sassoon “They Called It Passchendaele”

“I died in hell

(they called it Passchendaele); my wound was slight

and I was hobbling back; and then a shell

burst slick upon the duckboards; so I fell

into the bottomless mud, and lost the light”

In Scotland there is a national event in Crieff on Sunday 30th July 2017.  Organised by Crieff Remembers in partnership with Legion Scotland there will be a Military Parade through the town followed by a Drumhead Service and other activities in Market Park.
